Yellowstone Park SignTourists come from all over the world to see Old Faithful at Yellowstone National Park. Camping in the park is one of the most unique ways to see the park, as you’ll get to see it at all times from sunrise to sunset. There are 12 campgrounds in the park that you can stay at and several on the borders. Adventure Camper Rentals in Jackson Hole, WY, offers pop-up camper rentals so that you and your family can enjoy the great outdoors with some comforts of home.

Camping Reservations

Only five of the campgrounds will allow you to make reservations before arriving at the site. These include the following: Madison, Fishing Bridge RV Park, Bridge Bay, Canyon, and Grant Village. You can make reservations for these sites online at YellowstoneNationalParkLodges.com. Beware that Fishing Bridge RV Park is limited to hard-sided units only because of heavy grizzly activity. It is also the only campground in the park with electric and water hook ups.

Madison is the most highly recommended of these Yellowstone campgrounds that take reservations. It sits alongside the Madison River in Madison Canyon and is also close to Old Faithful and several geo-thermal areas in the park. You are not required to have a hard-sided unit to camp here.

Make your reservations as early as possible for these parks; they’ll fill up quickly as summer approaches.

First-Come, First-Served Campgrounds

There are seven campgrounds throughout the park that do not take reservations ahead of time. In order to secure a site, arrive early, as they are usually full by 11 a.m. These campgrounds include the following: Mammoth, Norris, Tower Fall, Indian Creek, Pebble Creek, Slough Creek, and Lewis Lake. Of these, we highly recommend Norris. It is located very close to the Norris Geyser Basin, and it is a great hub location to explore the rest of the park. It opens for the season on May 16 and has over 100 campsites.
