| Frequently asked questions |
| |
| 1> Does Adventure require a security deposit? |
No, we charge only for the rental of the camper. To reserve a camper, we ask for 50% payment at time of reservation, we charge the balance due 21 days before pickup.
|
| 2> What is your cancellation policy? |
If you cancel more than 21 days before your scheduled pickup date we refund all but a $50 cancellation fee. If you cancel within 21 days of your scheduled pickup date you are responsible for the rental in full.
|
| 3> What about insurance? |
The camper has liability and $250 deductible collision coverage included in the rates shown on our rental rates page. Adventure also offers a $0 deductible collision damage waiver for $12 per day, $60 per week. You are NOT required to purchase this damage waiver, however, please realize that any damage done to the camper will likely cost much more than the damage waiver.
If you are renting a tow vehicle you may again choose collision damage waiver from us, or use your own car insurance from your agent or credit card.
|
| 4> Do any of your units have toilets? |
The Grand Haven series of hard sided travel trailers does have toilets, none of the tent trailers do. You can purchase your own porta-pottie from Wal-mart or other stores for around $80.
|
| 5> Do any of your units have showers? |
Yes, all of our Fleetwood Santa Fe and Sun Valley models are equipped with exterior showers.
|
| 6> Will my vehicle be able to tow one of your campers? |
We always recommend checking your owners manual or with your vehicle's dealer to determine its towing capacity. We carry a wide variety of trailer weights, so normally we have something for everybody. Please see our camper comparison chart on our Camper Rentals page for towing weights of our various units.
|
| 7> What kind of hitch and vehicle wiring do I need to tow your campers? |
Generally most of our campers require a Class II hitch with a 2" trailer ball. The Quicksilver 10.0 can be towed with only a Class I hitch and 2" trailer ball. The Grand Haven X-22 requires a Class III hitch and an electric trailer brake controller installed on your vehicle. We provide a weight distributing hitch with the camper.
Most of our campers are equipped with seven way round plugs for vehicle wiring. We do have adapters to convert many different types of vehicle plugs to what our campers have. Please call us to discuss the specifics of your vehicle and camper you are planning on renting.
|
| 8> How can I find out what class of hitch is on my vehicle? |
If you have a frame mounted receiver hitch below your bumper, first determine the dimesions of the square hole. If it is 2x2, you have at least a Class III hitch, you can tow any trailer Adventure has.
If the dimension is 1.25x1.25 you have either a Class I or Class II. Look for capacity information on a sticker or engraved into the steel arms of the hitch which attach to your vehicle frame.
If you see a 200 lb. tongue weight/2000 lb. towing weight you have a Class I hitch and are limited to towing our Quicksilver 10.0 model.
350 lb. tongue weight/3500 lb. towing weight is a Class II, you can tow everything we carry except the Grand Haven Travel Trailer.
|
| 9> I've never used a tent trailer before, are they easy to set-up? Do you show us how to set up the camper? |
All of the brands we carry, Viking, Fleetwood and Quicksilver, are very easy to set-up. Part of our dispatch process on your day of pickup is showing a video combined with personal instruction on how to set-up and operate your camper.
|
| 10> How long will it take on the day of pickup to get the camper? |
It normally takes about 45 minutes to sign paperwork and instruct you on the use and set-up of your camper. The most common reason for any other delay is if your tow vehicle wiring is not in operable condition. If your vehicle hitch or wiring is not in operable, Adventure is prohibited by law from allowing you to take your camper. Please have a qualified hitch and wiring installer examine your vehicle before pickup to eliminate any problems.
